Two Carter County men were arrested Wednesday and Thursday after Sheriff’s Office investigators found they stole more $100,000 worth of property.
The arrests came after deputies received reports of suspects breaking into several storage units on Bristol Highway in April. One victim reported $108,000 worth of property stolen, and another reported $8,700 worth of items taken. Investigators have recovered approximately $75,000 worth of the stolen property and are continuing to recover more items.
39-year-old Jackie Lee White and 31-year-old Richard Lynn Johnson were charged with theft over $60,000, theft over $5,000 and nine counts of burglary each in connection with the thefts.
Both suspects are being held in the Carter County Detention Center. White is being held on a $45,000 total bond, and Johnson is being held on an $80,000 total bond.
