Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old Garrett Brian Birchfield Tuesday for stealing a woman’s guns and killing her dogs.
Investigators said Birchfield stole the victim’s dogs and a firearm and then shot the dogs before disposing of them on Teaberry Road. Birchfield then returned to the victim’s home posing as an investigator and took three more firearms.
Birchfield is charged with four counts of intentional killing of an animal, theft over $1,000, aggravated burglary, criminal impersonation and fabricating evidence. He is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a total bond of $49,000.
