Sheriff Dexter Lunceford has awarded two college students with scholarships provided by the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association this week.
Taylor Madison Williams and Julianna Carol Cole, both students at East Tennessee State University, received $500 scholarships to further their educations. Williams is studying computer programming, and Cole is studying psychology and planning to pursue her master’s degree and become a guidance counselor. The scholarships will be applied to the 2020-2021 academic year.
“We are glad to help these students with their educations,” Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said. “We know both of them are hard-working and look forward to their successes.”
The Tennessee Sheriff’s Association awards dozens of scholarships to in-state college students. The students must either be a full-time employee of a Tennessee sheriff’s office, or the child of a sheriff’s office employee.
