Warrant Service Leads to Meth Sale Arrest

Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested one woman Wednesday after they attempted to serve an arrest warrant and found evidence of methamphetamine sales.

24-year-old Arial Ilene Wright has been charged with sale of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold, along with other charges.

Deputies went to Betterley Place near Elizabethton to serve a warrant for Wright’s arrest. When they arrived, they found a vehicle registered to Wright in the driveway and heard a female voice inside the house. The deputies knocked and announced that they were with the Sheriff’s Office multiple times, and after receiving no response, they made entry into the house.

Inside the home, deputies noticed drug paraphernalia and evidence of narcotics. After hearing of Wright’s arrest, an investigator obtained a search warrant for the house. During the search, investigators found drug paraphernalia throughout the residence, as well as a pipe in a toilet. Upon removing the toilet, they found a bag of methamphetamine in the bottom flange. Investigators believe the suspect attempted to flush the pipe and meth to get rid of the evidence. They also recovered more than $1,000 in cash.

Wright is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on $76,000 total bond. She has also been indicted on methamphetamine sale charges based on a joint Elizabethton Police Department and Carter County Sheriff’s Office drug task force investigation.

Maintaining a Dwelling Where Narcotics Are Sold (2x); Sale of Methamphetamine Greater than .5 Grams; Manufacture, Delivery, Sale or Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Tampering with Evidence; Failure to Appear (Original Charge: Animals/Dogs at Large).
