Patrol is assigned by zones. Deputies observe their assigned areas for possible criminal activity or other conditions that could endanger the public safety. They respond to emergency calls of service in the boundaries of Carter County including violent, non-violent, and drug related crimes, as well as resolving non-criminal problems. Patrol investigate callers’ complaints, enforce law, and maintain high visibility. They perform under stressful and high risk conditions and apprehend and arrest criminal suspects and law violators when necessary.
While the patrol division’s primary role is to answer calls for service, they serve in several other roles as well, including:
- Performing security checks
- Executing warrants
- Assisting with investigations
- Enforcing traffic law
- Helping on animal control calls
